Jenna Bush Hager says her wedding would have been very different if she had followed President Bush’s advice and run away

Jenna Bush Hagar acknowledged that her wedding photos would have been very different if she had followed the advice of her father, then-President George W. Bush, who said she should skip a big ceremony and run away.

The first daughter’s revelation came during a show with co-host Hoda Kotb on Wednesday in the fourth hour of “Today with Hoda & Jenna,” as the two talked about how President Bush encouraged her. and then-fiancé Henry Chase Hager to flee in 2008. On the back of the news that Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker are getting married (without a license) in Las Vegas. The clip can be seen here.

“My father wanted us to run away because it was a pain,” Jenna told Kotb. He said, “What are you doing?” You should run away. ”

“I don’t know if he wanted to go to Vegas to do that,” she added.

The wedding took place during the Bush presidency between 2001 and 2009.

Eventually, her father’s plan was rejected, and Jenna and Henry were married in a private ceremony at the Bush family’s Prairie Chapel Ranch near Crawford, Texas. In the past, she remembered special moments from the couple’s day. Images of their return from the wedding can be seen here and below.

“I think my dad took me in a van, in his van, and he said, ‘You look beautiful, baby,’ and then we both cried,” Bush Hager said earlier on the show. “I remember seeing Henry clearly, sitting there on this cross that my father had helped build for us. It’s still there, so we have our Christmas services there that we’ve prepared. Our children have come to sit on it. ”

The co-presenter of “Today” said clearly that she could not have done better and even her father had previously said that this is all that everyone could have dreamed of, the Daily Mail reported.

“The wedding was spectacular,” President Bush said at the time. “It simply came to our notice then. It was just a special day and a wonderful day and we are very blessed. ”

“Our little girl, Jenna, married a very good guy,” he added after the wedding.

In May 2020, Jenna posted several photos of her return from her twelve years of marriage on Instagram and subtitled her post: “12 years ago I married this guy when the sun was setting over Texas, the day after thirty years of age. Twelve years, three children, some loss and an insurmountable JOY, and I still love him with me. Hank’s happiest birthday. “

Jenna and Henry have three children together: Mila, 8, Poppy, 6, and Hal, 3.
