Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are engaged – again!
Lopez announced the engagement in a short video through her fan newsletter, On The JLo, in which she looks with adoration at a green diamond ring.
“You’re perfect,” Lopez says in a voiceover while listening to romantic music
Lopez teased the “exciting and special” announcement on Facebook on Friday night.
Sources close to the singer say that the video is, in fact, an engagement announcement.
Lopez, 52, and Affleck, 49, were rumored to be engaged earlier this week when she was photographed wearing a wedding ring on her finger while shopping in LA with her 14-year-old daughter Emme .
Insiders close to Affleck recently told Page Six that they would not be shocked if they remarried.
The couple started dating in 2002 and were quickly nicknamed “Bennifer” by fans and the media alike. The two certainly didn’t shy away from showing their love for each other at the time, including the PDA-filled scenes in Lopez’s “Jenny From the Block” music video.
By November of that year, Affleck had asked Lopez to marry a 6.1-carat pink diamond by Harry Winston. It looks like the huge spark cost $ 2.5 million.
Lopez spoke of her initial engagement during a meeting with Diane Sawyer in the 2000s, where she described her fiancé as “brilliantly intelligent, loving, charming, and affectionate.”
She went on to call her amazing ring “the most magnificent thing I’ve ever seen.”
Unfortunately, the massive media attention has led the couple to postpone and eventually cancel their 2003 wedding.
“Due to the excessive media attention around our wedding, we decided to postpone the date,” the couple said in a joint statement. “When we seriously considered hiring three separate ‘bait brides’ in three different locations, we realized something was wrong.”
The statement continued: “We are beginning to feel that the spirit of what should have been the happiest day of our lives could be compromised. We felt that what should have been a joyful and sacred day could be pampered for us, our families, and our friends. ”
Lopez canceled her engagement in early 2004 and was married to singer Marc Anthony until June of that year. The couple continued to have twins Max and Emme in 2008.
Meanwhile, Affleck continued with Jennifer Garner. He married the actress in 2005 and received three children together: daughters Violet and Seraphina and son Samuel.
However, both marriages ended in divorce, with Lopez entering into another love affair with Alex Rodriguez in 2017.
In turn, Affleck has been linked to a number of women, including Knives Out star Ana De Armas, until their breakup in January 2021.
Shortly after Lopez broke up with A-Rod, Affleck quickly came in and reconnected with the singer. The pair – who just lost $ 50 million in a Bel Air mansion – have been strong ever since.
