Jimmy Garoppolo of the 49ers class is the next level for teams in need after ‘big upswings’.

Three Pro Bowl-caliber quarterbacks could be on the move out of the season.

Jimmy Garoppolo’s commercial market may depend on the availability of these quarterbacks.

“I think you’re going to have a handful of teams that are looking to make big swings,” MMQB’s Albert Breer said on the 49ers Talk.

And with Jimmy, the question will come down to how many of those three we’ve been talking about for a year–Dishawn Watson, Aaron Rodgers, and Russell Wilson–is it three of three, two of three or one of three that will be available by trade? And how many suitors Who are there after the dust has settled on those three men?”

Two days after the 49ers’ season ended with the Los Angeles Rams losing the Super Bowl champion in the NFC Championship game, Garoppolo said goodbye. He expects to leave the 49ers in a deal to clear the way for Tre Lance to take charge as a start.

Garoppolo’s no-trade clause expires on March 16, the first day of a new league year, at which point it can be traded without prior written consent.

Roughly a third of teams in the NFL could look to get this veteran quarterback player out of the season. Playoffs like the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will need new backers as Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady move away.

Brier noted that Carolina and Washington tried to acquire Matthew Stafford last year. Both teams still desperately need a quarterback a year later.

Philadelphia and Denver are two teams with enough capital to make a move in the middle, although the Eagles seem to be satisfied with Galen Hurts. Additionally, Indianapolis looks set to move on from Carson Wentz for just one season after getting him in the first and third round of the draft picks.

“I could have seen Washington or Carolina walk empty-handed and still say, ‘We need to get better at the quarterback,'” Brier said.

Unlike last year, the 2022 NFL Draft doesn’t appear to be loaded with first-round talent in the middle.

So teams that need a quarterback are likely to try to get a veteran player. Among the top free agent choices are Teddy Bridgewater, Ryan Fitzpatrick, James Winston, Mitchell Trubesky, Andy Dalton, Marcus Mariota, and Tyrod Taylor. It looks like Garoppolo will reside at the helm of that group.

“The recruiting class is not very good for this position,” Brier said. “I think a lot of these teams would probably view Jimmy as a viable option.”
