NFL Top 25 Attacking Agents in 2022: Davante Adams tops list of dynamic talent no longer under contract

1

You could argue that Adams is the league’s top receiver, and that view is hard to refute. Two-time First-Team All-Pro absolutely destroys games when given the chance, and no matter what happens with Aaron Rodgers in the near future, the Green Bay Packers have no plans to let Adams take calls from other teams. However, never say never, and if they make the mistake of not giving the franchise a mark, it will reset the market in the center – easily. Since finding his groove truly as WR1 in 2016, the five-time Pro Bowler has amassed 7,192 yards (12.4 yards per reception) and 69 touchdowns. Enough said. 2

The biggest name free agent for the New Orleans Saints, you can bet your bottom dollar and they will try to figure out their roof to allow for one of the best offensive tackles in all of football. Armstead is an All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler who would gain a lot of attention if he were allowed to make calls in March, despite injury in 2021 – which he was able to come back from when many thought he wouldn’t. R. Saints aren’t expected to be able to give him the franchise, so his shows will start streaming soon and it won’t be small. 3

Chris Godwin, who nearly lost the slot to Allen Robinson when you think – like Odell Beckham and Michael Gallop – is trying to come back from a tattered AFC Champions League at the end of the season in 2022. Goodwin has always been late, before his latest injury, and his production shows that. In all, between the Winston and Brady eras, he’s produced 4,643 yards and 29 touchdowns since 2017. Those are WR1 numbers relegated to WR2 only because of the presence of world talent Mike Evans. 4

Things got so weird between Robinson and the Chicago Bears, contractually speaking, that they fueled a movement of fans who flooded the organization with cheers intended to force them to pay him for a long-term deal. It never happened, and as such, the Pro Bowl went into wide free agency after seeing his production drop due to Matt Nagy’s attempt to make Andy Dalton the best QB last season and the O-line’s inability to protect Justin Fields, but one need not look at Beyond what he did in 2019 and 2020 – and with whom he did it – to understand why only WR is more valuable than his entry into free agency. 5

It’s hard to say what Williams meant for the Los Angeles Chargers offense and Justin Herbert’s development. Williams produced the final WR1 for Herbert, 1,146 yards and 9 touchdowns last season alone — his second 1,000-yard season in his last three attempts. Any team that needs a star future can have one at Williams, but it won’t come cheap, and that’s assuming chargers allow the 27-year-old to leave the building. 6

Beckham isn’t the only recipient on this list working back from a torn ACL. Gallup suffered one as well in 2021, but he’s still one of the NFL’s most electric game changers when he looks at his total work. He would like to stay with the Dallas Cowboys and would like to keep him, but other clubs will get a chance as well, and he’s looking to get paid well. 7

One word: brutal. Beckham found his way to the Rams after Sam split from the Cleveland Browns and immediately established himself as a dominant receiver opposite Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp. But just one match of glory and what was destined to be one of the most favorable seasons of his career, he suffered a rip in the AFC Champions League at Super Bowl LVI. That puts an end to what he might be offered, considering he’s also a re-shredding, but Beckham is still a top 10 name to watch going forward. 8

All Brown wanted was to be moved to deal, but it wasn’t in the Baltimore Ravens’ plans, so they traded him with the Kansas City chiefs—who honored his request. He’s starting all 16 tackles the Chiefs in 2021, and the three-time Pro Bowler has been a huge opportunity for anyone who needs to improve on their offensive edge. Being five years younger than Sheriff is what sets him apart from the Washington Veteran. 9

The All-Pro guard and five-time Pro Bowl guard has spent his entire career in a loss-making environment for the Washington Leaders and perhaps looking for a change, one of the most valuable offensive linemen heading into free agency. And there will be no shortage of those willing to help him pack his bags and bring his talent to their team. 10

Unfortunately after his breakup with the Buccaneers—a move that paved the way for the arrival of Brady & Co.—Winston patiently studied behind Drew Bryce until the keys were thrown at him in 2021. He began to break up the Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay Packers before he eventually suffered a ruptured ACL, but he Easily the only free agent QB worth mentioning on this list, his arm is still the same cannon he was before. 11

While there are smaller narrow ends available (see below), none are as future from the first ballot as Gronk. And the fact that he’s shown that he’s still able to produce makes his value much stronger, and the only real question is whether he’d be interested in playing for any midfielder not named Tom Brady – after he hinted at seeing some cool stuff in Joe Burrow (hint?). 12

When Blake Jarwin went down with an ACL tear in 2020, Schultz was asked to simply stop being a professional tackler who occasionally makes passes to a playmaker/chain drive. Showing he understands the mission, he effectively took over the TE1 job from Jarwin in 2021 and is presumably out of Dallas in the process. Look for him to order a lovely penny this off season. 13

Conner left the Pittsburgh Steelers in hopes of reminding the NFL that he could take over the games, and mission accomplished. The two-run Pro Bowl race again produced 1,127 yards of melee last season in the desert, but even more than that were 18 touchdowns. Conner is almost an end-zone machine that any team would do well to add to their roster. 14

Kirk is young and has the potential to be an electrician. He didn’t really become WR1 at Arizona, even when DeAndre Hopkins went down through injury, but receiving 982 yards and five touchdowns shows what he can do in the right system that he sees as a dominant WR2 who can, at times, play plays the recognition value of WR1. 15th

Being able to thrive in the toxic wastelands of the Jacksonville Jaguars is an achievement for anyone, and Chark did just that while never knowing who his QB franchise was in which week. His 2021 season ended prematurely with a broken ankle, but he’s expected to be 100% for 2022 and when there’s a small 1,000-yard electric receiver on the market — you can call him. 16

Everything Gesicki did with the Dolphins was getting better year on year, going from a rotating talent as a rookie with just 202 yards and no relegation in 2018 to a major contributor to Tua Tagovailoa. Having produced 13 touchdowns and 2,053 yards in his last three seasons in Miami, there will be teams in need of TE looking to play on the phone. 17

After going back and forth wanting to stay with the Cleveland Browns and wanting to get out, then change his mind, Ngoku is finally free to decide where he wants to play next without interfering. A great talent at the end of the day, he can be a source of threat to someone’s red zone while also extending the field at the seams from time to time. A player who averaged nine yards per goal in 2021 cannot be overlooked. 18

If you want to see how important Patterson will be to the Atlanta Falcons in 2021, look no further than how they would struggle without him in the lineup. The four-time All-Pro was a force of last season – able to deliver production as a frequent comeback, wide receiver and kick-back – and he has to be one of the most coveted names in the free agency. 19

Things didn’t go the way Gordon would have liked in his quest for a big deal from the Los Angeles Chargers prior to joining the Denver Broncos in 2020, but you could tell he’s back in shape. The two-time Pro Bowl run in the back racked up a total of 2,275 yards of scrimmage with 20 touchdowns in his last two seasons with the Broncos—despite the fact that Denver has been a bit of a mess in the QB position. 20

When Fuller is on, it is inflamed. The problem is, as of late, he’s seen his trademark tarnish due to an NFL suspension and then a broken thumb at the end of the season after heading from the Houston Texans to the Miami Dolphins. However, this is one of the best free agent receivers available this season, and if the Dolphins don’t want a Mulligan with him, their loss is someone else’s gain. 21

It’s no secret that NFL games have been won and lost in the trenches, and Corbett helped the Rams win a lot in buying time for Matthew Stafford to do games and for the running game to remain viable after the loss of Cam Akers. Even better for Corbett is the fact that he’s still young, at 26, an inside attacking lineman who can bring some flexibility to the table as well — along with his Super Bowl LVI ring. 22

He didn’t get the long-term deal he wanted initially with the Philadelphia Eagles and instead was traded to the Arizona Cardinals in 2021 – becoming an instant and dangerous weapon for Killer Murray. Ertz can do the same with any QB in the league, playing tight ends like Ertz will always hold an excellent score, and being a three-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion doesn’t hurt either. 23

Playoff Lenny was in full force during last season’s Super Bowl run by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and his 812 dribbling yards and eight rushing distances already rebranded him for the regular season. After nearly saving the day in this year’s playoff loss to eventual Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams, Fournette showed he still has RB1 ability. 24

High-quality offensive wizards do not grow on trees, let alone those that can always start and remain. Moses started every singles game for the Washington Leaders in the six years prior to breaking up with them in 2021 and joining the New York Jets, and he’d be a quality get-up for anyone needing to upgrade their QB protection. 25

Smith Schuster is still working to earn a long-term deal somewhere after his second consecutive season in which he failed to prove he deserved it. Teams will want to know he’s back at full speed after a shoulder injury at the end of the season, so it looks like a deal for another year here. honorary

Once one of the most dominant recipients in football, Hilton is now on the wrong side of the 30’s with several injuries on his resume, but he can still provide a lot of value for a club in need of WR – assuming he’s still healthy good.
