Ogunjobi made a career year in his only season with the Bengals, scoring 49 combined tackles, 16 QB hits and seven sacks in 16 games he played. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte producer was originally drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Without Tuitt last year, the Steelers statistically had the worst running defense in the NFL. Pittsburgh drafted DeMarvin Leal of Texas A&M and they also have Chris Wormley’s roster, but Ogunjobi would undoubtedly be an upgrade for that defensive line.

The Steelers have made several changes to the defensive side of the ball this season. They signed linebacker Miles Jack and linebacker Levi Wallace for friendly deals with the team at free agency. In the draft, Pittsburgh added youth to its defensive line in the form of Lille, a versatile player who lined up in multiple positions at Texas A&M. The Steelers also brought back cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon after leading the Steelers in interceptions last season.

Pittsburgh also extended Minkah Fitzpatrick’s contract, making the All-Pro two times safer in the league. Fitzpatrick is part of a defensive center that also includes defensive lineman Cam Heyward and outside back TJ Watt.

“I’m really excited,” Fitzpatrick said recently of the Steelers’ defense. “Obviously, I’m excited to get Ahkello back. I’m excited about Levi. I’m excited about Miles. We held off really well up front. I think we have a young but experienced defense. Some new faces to rise to. I am very excited about the upcoming season.”
