Tekken: Bloodlines anime from Netflix will come later in 2022

Netflix has just announced another title for its thriving library of original anime series. He intends to release Tekken: Bloodline later this year and unveiled the series with a one-and-a-half minute “official teaser” trailer. There is no exact date or mention of the number of episodes, but the summary reveals that it will focus on Jin Kazama, who joined the series as a character in Tekken 3.

Unlike other gaming franchises in the late 1990s, with sales of over 50 million copies, the Tekken series had only a few attempts to translate the story for movies or TV. These attempts managed to include a completely forgotten live action film from 2010, which is the most remarkable because it is one of the 43 films about Rotten Tomatoes that won a zero percent rating based on critical reviews. At one point, Tekken producer / director Katsuhiro Harada posted on Twitter that it was awful, saying, “We weren’t able to watch that movie; it was a cruel contract. I’m not interested in that movie. “

The conditions surrounding this adaptation may be better, as has Harada invited fans to check out the new trailer. If the games follow, the show will tie together The King of Iron Fist, which includes control of a powerful corporation as a prize, the fight for intergenerational power of the Mishima family that runs the corporation, and the tour and the supernatural powers / corruption of the Devil’s Gene mutation shared by Heihachi Mishima (also featured in the trailer), his son Kazuya Mishima and Kazuya’s son Jin Kazama.

Jin’s mother, Jun Kazama, was also a game character, and the trailer seems to show that she trains him when they are attacked by another game boss, the monstrous ogre. These events will cause him to enter the tour full of familiar faces – faces who may or may not wear jaguar masks all the time – and the flashes during the trailer show at least some of the characters we can expect to appear.

“Power is everything.” Jin Kazama learned the family’s self-defense arts, the traditional Kazama-style martial arts, from his mother at an early age. Even so, he was helpless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying all that was dear to him, changing his life forever. Angry at himself for not being able to stop him, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to impose it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage – the Iron Fist King Tournament.

Even after he failed to deliver a live action Cowboy Bebop which he considered worthy of a second season, Netflix continues to focus on adapting anime and games for new content. It is League of Legendsanime series based on lasso received an extraordinary review here (even if it is Dota 2– bound souls Dragon’s blood did not), while The Wizard The live-action TV series did well enough to win a third season, a second anime film and a future children’s show. A live-action adaptation of One single piece production began earlier this year, and Netflix also has anime adaptations of Scott Pilgrim and the Terminator series in progress.

Disclosure: The Verge is currently producing a Netflix series.
