World No. 21 Belinda Bencic defeated No. 3 Paula Badosa in the quarterfinals of the tournament in Charleston. Ons Jabeur also qualified, to the detriment of the Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina.

Belinda Bencic in the last four! Seeded No.10 on clay in Charleston, the Swiss pulled off an upset by defeating No.2 Paula Badosa 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 in 2:49, in a match marked by seven breaks.
