The Ultimatum series of meetings.
“The Ultimatum”, which Vanessa and Nick are hosting together, is about six couples in which one person is ready to marry their partner and the other is not ready to marry. Throughout the season, participants select a new partner from one of the other couples with whom they can have a “trial marriage”. They live with that person and see if there is a “connection.”
After three weeks with their new partner, they reunite with their original partner for a second “probationary marriage” in which they finally decide whether it would be better to marry the original partner, being in a new relationship with the partner. their trial or alone.
In the first episode of the new show, Vanessa explained why she once gave Nick an ultimatum before she got married.
“It was a very public marriage and a very public divorce, and I had to go through this very public thing, and it was very difficult for us,” Vanessa told the six couples on the show. “It was only when he said, ‘I’m going to let him go,’ and I said, ‘I’m going to let him go,’ and we’re really committed to each other.”
Nick and Simpson got married in 2002 and announced their separation in November 2005. They appeared together on the MTV reality show “Newlyweds”. Simpson described her union and separation as highly publicized in her 2020 memoir “Open Book.”
Vanessa appeared in the video for Nick’s single “What’s Left of Me”, which was released in April 2006 and was about her divorce from Simpson. They began dating later that year, but the relationship was greeted with public attention as Nick was still going through his high-profile divorce from Simpson, which ended in June 2006.
“I’ve always said I’d be the girl who would never give a man an ultimatum,” Vanessa told The Ultimatum.
“He lied,” Nick said. “No,” she replied. “Five years later, things have changed.”
After she “moved in with him” and “renovated her entire undergraduate school,” Vanessa remembered asking Nick, “What are we doing?”
“If I’m completely honest and transparent, I’ve taken a break,” Vanessa said. They opened up to connections with other people, such as the couples on the show.
The two confirmed in June 2009 that they had broken up, but announced that they had reunited until October of that year.
“We both saw another person and we realized that if we got out of our way, we could be amazing together, but I needed to see someone else and realize that I didn’t mind the things I thought were bothering me. She continued.
“The big picture is how I feel about this person and their values,” Vanessa added. The ultimatum led to an engagement in November 2010, and the couple got married less than a year later, in July 2011. They now have three children.
“I think we have perspective,” Nick said of the ultimatum.
The first eight episodes of “The Ultimatum” are currently airing on Netflix. Episodes nine and ten premiere on April 13.
