Will Zalatores, Tony Finau
The 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic announced nine commitments to players on Wednesday, titled Will Zalatores and Tony Finau.
Justin Rose, Jason Day, Cameron Young, Ricky Fowler, Matt Kuchar, Kevin Kesner and RMC Champion Cam Davis have agreed to play so far. The tournament is scheduled to take place July 28-31 at the Detroit Golf Club.
Zalatoris is #12 in the most recent official world golf rankings and a runner-up at the US Open and PGA Championship. Last season in Detroit, he finished last among 77 players to make the cut, firing 288 players tied for the championship after rounds 2-over-74 and 4-over-76 in the weekend.

Finau ranked No. 17 and has represented the United States on two previous teams in the Ryder Cup.
“We are excited to announce that such an outstanding group of players will join us in Detroit this summer, and this is only the beginning of our player commitments,” said Jason Languel, CEO of Rocket Mortgage Classic.
“The commitment of golfers of this caliber to play at the Rocket Mortgage Classic reflects the momentum we are building and the desire of top players to be a part of our event. It is also great to have their support for our ‘Change Course’ initiative to end the digital divide in Detroit.”
Day will play in his third consecutive Rocket Mortgage Classic after finishing 14th in 2021, while Rose will make his debut. Both are formerly #1 in the world and have 12 and 10 PGA Tour victories respectively.

Young Ho is in his first full season on the PGA Tour and boasts three of the top five spots on his entry to his first RMC. Kuchar is a veteran with nine PGA Tour titles, but this is also his debut in Detroit.
A five-time PGA Tour winner and Rocket Mortgage ambassador, Fowler has played in each of the previous three places since its debut in 2019, his best finish (12th place) coming in 2020. Kisner has also played in and tied for every Rocket Mortgage Classic. 8th place last year and 3rd place in 2020.

Davis won the 2021 RMC race by shooting 18 under 270 and defeating the 54-hole co-leaders Troy Merritt and Joaquin Neiman in a five-hole playoff. He’s played in every Rocket Mortgage Classic and boasts three consecutive top 10 spots this season.
Notably, the 2022 RMC Championship will be without former players such as Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Dustin Johnson and former Rocket Mortgage ambassador Bryson DeChambeau, who have signed a contract with Saudi-backed LIV Golf.
Before leaving, Langwell told WXYZ-TV that RMC officials spoke with Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay about playing in Detroit for the first time.

Hideki Matsuyama, Joaquin Niemann, Sungjae Im, Max Homa, Harold Varner III and Keegan Bradley are former RMC participants and can still log in.
The field will be completed July 23.
Two factors could help attract more top players to the field: This year’s RMC is two weeks away from the Open, the season’s final major tournament, at St Andrews Links in Scotland, which is the second-to-last regular season event. Before the start of the FedExCup PGA Tour Qualifiers – which will pay out $18 million to the winner.
